Personal Economics and Finance Contest-- teacher/mentor meeting for Capital Markets Contest — Los Angeles

In the Capital Markets contest, students follow the interactions of Main Street and Wall Street for a ten-week period. At the end of the ten weeks, in teams of four, students write an essay explaining how events in the real sector affected aggregates in the financial sector. Writers of the six best essays are invited to participate in the finals, competing for $500 per team member and a trip to New York.

MoneyWiseTeen teacher workshop — Los Angeles

The MoneyWiseTeen is a set of ten online stories about teenagers and their successes and failures with money. The teacher workshops expose teachers to the program. Teachers may nominate their students for the California MoneyWiseTeen contest. Students prepare a skit, musical interpretation, or other demonstration of the economics of MWT. Finalists come to Los Angeles and present their work to a panel of judges. First, second, and third place teams win scholarships to college or vocational training programs.

Economics Challenge begins — Online
Mar 15

California high school economics students take online multiple choice exams on microeconomics, macroeconomics, and international economics. Teams with the highest scores in two divisions (AP/Honors/International Baccalaureate and regular economics classes) come to the State Finals at California State University San Bernardino. Winners of the AP division go on to the online regional finals and winners of the regular division are named California State Champions and receive cash prizes.
