Financial Advisor’s Contest

2026 Financial Advisor’s Contest

The Financial Advisors Contest is an opportunity for high school students (grades 9-12) to apply financial concepts in a real-world scenario.

California high school teachers can register teams of three to four students into the competition between September 24- October 8.

Confirmed teams will receive:

  • A fictional client case-study
  • A financial professional mentor who they are required to meet with at least twice during the competition period. Mentors will provide guidance on the fictional clients’ needs as well as advice on investing, risk- management, asset management and other relevant financial aspects.
  • The presentation scoring rubric

Each team will have approximately four weeks to prepare for the competition.

In-Person Competition: November 19 at the Los Angeles Branch of the San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank

Student teams will share their financial plan and recommendations for their client in a live presentation before a panel of judges of financial advisors. Teams will be evaluated based on scoring rubric and their responses to questions from the judges.

New and returning teachers to the contest are invited to an information session on Thursday, October 1, at 3:30 p.m. to get an overview of the program and ask questions. A recording will be available for all those who are not able to attend live. Register below.
