Financial Advisor’s Contest

Financial Advisor's Contest

The Financial Advisors Contest is an opportunity for high school students (Grades 9-12) to apply financial concepts in a real-world scenario. Students are organized by their teacher into teams and compete against other teams to provide the best analysis and financial advising services to a fictional client. Each team receives a fictional client case-study.

As part of the contest preparation process, student teams are paired with volunteers who mentor the teams. These volunteers are actual financial professionals—real life financial advisors who guide these student teams in their research of the fictional clients’ needs, how to advise regarding investing, risk- management, asset management and other relevant financial aspects of the client.

Student teams share their financial plan and recommendations for their client in a live presentation before a panel of judges. Teams have to demonstrate good understanding of the financial concepts, strategies, etc. that are in their plan and think on their feet as they face tough questions from the judges.
